Spring is in the air, and that means lots of
things: flowers, warm weather…and your hair flying in the wind while your
convertible top is down. All car buffs know they need to get their cars
ready for the transition from winter to spring. Here are some tips from
Precision Restorations to get you ready to embrace the upcoming season.
-
Eliminate debris and salt on your vehicle’s undercarriage
-
Buff and
polish your vehicle’s paint
-
Use a
clay bar to remove any small contaminants in the paint that washing didn’t
rinse away
-
Enlist a
high quality wash like Meguiars to clean your vehicle
-
Check
your tire pressure since it changes approximately one pound per square inch
for every ten degrees Fahrenheit change in the outside temperature (this is
really important since the pressure can affect tire wear, traction and gas
mileage)
-
Check
wiper blades
-
Rotate
tires for a more even wear
-
Change
oil and filter even if you are not driving the vehicle (oil breaks down over
time even in sedentary cars)
-
Change
air filter
-
Flush
and fill your cooling system
-
Check
the radiator and gas caps
-
Check
battery and spark plugs (you don’t want dirty spark plugs or corrosion, and
this should enable a good connection with the battery terminal)
-
Clean
the cabin
-
Check
your spare tire
The best part about having a Spring-ready vehicle:
now you can attend lots of car shows in your pristine, smooth-running
automobile.
